Intouch.wunderweib.de: Bill Kaulitz - His selfie arouses emotion.

Tokio Hotel before their comeback

A selfie could not be more commonplace in a hair salon, but it sparked excitement among fans of TokioHotel: singer Bill Kaulitz (24) posted a snapshot via Instagram, commenting: “hair day - getting ready for the first video shoot #tokiohotel #bleach #blonde #foils #alien #videoshoot #newsingle #2014“.

The reason for the popularity of this self-portrait: Since the withdrawal of the Kaulitz brothers in Los Angeles, it became quiet around Tokio Hotel -since 2010, fans are eagerly awaiting a sign of musical life of the group. Now, the first single from the highly anticipated new album is apparentlyimminent.

Fans of Bill commented enthusiastically on the picture: “OMG! It’s coming! I’m dying! Have fun and ensures that we fall more in love with you,“ wrote the user Sofiaqv. “We look forward to it! #Soexcited“ , ”Finally!“ Skymedina seems relieved.

The release date of the new single is not known yet.

top.de: Comeback of the cult band: What has driven Tokio Hotel for four years?

In recent years, the four boys from Magdeburg had disappeared… What did Bill, Tom, Gustav and Georg do during this time?

The single “Durch den Monsun” in July 2005 touched the heart of every girl and started a controversial topic of discussion - you either loved or hated Tokio Hotel. With their debut album “Schrei” began for the twin brothers Bill and Tom Kaulitz (24) and their band mates Gustav Schäfer (25) and Georg Listing (27) a successful run through the charts. But in 2010 Tokio Hotel completely disappeared from the public scene. Four years later, their long-awaited fourth studio album will release. The news agency has investigated what the four Magdeburg have done from 2010 to today.

In fact, Bill and Tom Kaulitz moved to Los Angeles in 2010 to work - according to media reports - together on new songs. But instead of that, the brothers started performing in the world of fashion. Together among others, they appeared on the cover of Italian Men’s edition of “Vogue”, while Bill in Milan took his first steps as a catwalk model for the Canadian designer duo Dsquared2.

Also, they put animals welfare as one of their higher priorities, for the satisfaction of disappointed fans around the world. Bill and Tom were set for a PETA campaign in chains in November 2010. This protesting convinced the two vegetarians against circus animals. Privately, the twin brothers are big animal lovers: They share their luxury mansion in Los Angeles with several dogs, as we can see on Bill’s beloved Instagram account.

New start in India?

While the brothers were seen within the four years, at least from time to time in the media, it became quiet around drummer Gustav and bassist Georg. According to entries in fan forums, the residence of the two was an unsolved mystery. One time, it was saying Gustav and Georg were living in Magdeburg, another time it was reported they were also moving to California. While Gustav at least did a solo appearance by the Kurt Kroemer Show in 2011, it remained entirely quiet for Georg. Only since April 2014, he posts on his own Instagram Account stuff about his private life.

2013 finally seemed to be the year of Tokio Hotel’s comeback: Bill and Tom sit next cult juror Dieter Bohlen in the jury of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar“. There were rumours about a new album that would release in 2013. But they had different plans after DSDS: “Tom and I would like to go in India. We always have had the idea of us completely away from all the things that we have , like cars, house, pool,” said frontman Bill in an interview with RTL.

However, Tokio Hotel’s comeback is coming soon. In January, producer and band-discoverer Peter Hoffmann (60) talked with the magazine “Bunte”: “The band‘s fine. The album will come this year, and live concerts will follow once again.“. The band shows up on Twitter reunited - and Bill posted on Instagram that they are getting ready for a new video shoot, so we can really expect the new album for soon.

gala.de: Bill Kaulitz at the hairdresser causes stir amongst fans, @tokiohotel comeback!

Bill Kaulitz: Exciting selfie!

Bill Kaulitz at the hairdresser: This photo inspires enthusiasm among fans because the singer of “Tokio Hotel” is getting ready for the comeback of the band.

It is well-known that “Tokio Hotel” is planning a comeback and a new album this year, but no exact date has been given by the guys. But now, it seems like the date of the release is really soon. Under the Instagram selfie Bill Kaulitz took at the hairdresser, the singer wrote: "hair day – getting ready for the first video shoot #tokiohotel #bleach #blond #foils #alien #videoshoot #newsingle #2014"

So it seems like the album is finished. If they are already shooting videos for the first single, it shouldn’t be long before its release. “Oh my God, is it really happening?”, commented a fan of “Tokio Hotel”. “When, when? When?” asked the others, “I can not wait to hear the song and to see the clip.”

Even though the band didn’t release any music since 2009 and that the twins moved in Los Angeles, fans apparently didn’t stop waiting for new songs. After “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” last year, they had already revealed to “Gala that once again they only wanted to focus on music.

ok-magazin.de: Blond for the comeback! Bill Kaulitz teases new @tokiohotel video!

At the hairdresser – Bill Kaulitz is getting ready for a new Tokio Hotel video

In January, Tokio Hotel let us know that they were going to release a new album this year. Now we know it won’t be long anymore, since Bill Kaulitz (24) wrote on Instagram that he is getting ready for a new video.

“Hair day – getting ready for the first video shoot”, did he write under a selfie he took at the hairdresser. We can understand with the hashtags that he is going to keep his blond hair.

approach treatment? We can not know what it’s going to look like. Maybe Bill just wanted to give us a first sign. Three weeks ago, we saw the guy from Leipzig looking this way: (in fact, it was a throwback thursday from last year, during DSDS*) – We don’t know when the album will release, but we will keep you posted.

Billboard.com: Fan Armies in Their Own Words: Aliens, Echelon, VIPs & More Sound Off!

As Billboard's Fan Army Face-Off continues its fourth round -- Tokio Hotel's Aliens are battling it out with Thirty Seconds to Mars' Echelon, and Skillet's Panheads are taking on BIGBANG's VIP -- we've asked prominent members of several fan armies to tell us why their fandom is the best. Here they are, in their own words.

Tokio Hotel's Aliens (In the final four):

"Tokio Hotel’s fans, #Aliens, are more than fans, we’re family. Thanks to their music, we've built incredible friendships with people all over the world -- from the USA to Siberia, Germany to Israel. Their music stopped us in our tracks the moment we heard it and takes our breath away when we get to see Tokio Hotel performing live.

The music and our unity has seen us through the best and worst of times, and we are forever grateful. It is that love that fuels our global communities and we come together for one reason, supporting Tokio Hotel.

Most of us found Tokio Hotel online. Sharing info via social media built the Aliens strength. When the #Aliens are called on to speak for our band, beware! Our support spreads faster than you can say “Ready, Set, Go!” Someone calls for a fan vote? Hope they added bandwidth because the #Aliens can crash sites. #Aliens don’t fade away, we are here waiting for their return, continuing to support and spread the name of Tokio Hotel wherever we can.

The Aliens are of all ages, different cultures, countries and religions, but we are bound together by a language that breaks all barriers: music! Scratch that… TOKIO HOTEL’S MUSIC!" -- @TokioHotelUSA

rollingstone.com: 20 Hugely Popular Musicians Who Haven't Gotten Famous in America (Yet)

Seven years ago, German glam rockers Tokio Hotel seemed on the verge of conquering America: They'd just won an MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist, and their English-language debut Scream was hotly anticipated. And then they just kind of fizzled out. Scream debuted at Number 39 on the Billboard 200, and 2009's Humanoid entered the charts just as meekly. However, perhaps thanks to their oddly misspelled band name, the group has been killing it in Japan. Despite a long hiatus, Tokio Hotel also still has a large following in Europe, Latin America and Asia. Apparently it's just Americans who didn't want to check into the Hotel for any prolonged period of time.

Bild.de: Attention, here’s Tokio-Bill(y) Idol!

These two “BILLY BOYS” drag on for a blond bonnet.

"Tokio Hotel" singer Bill Kaulitz (24) and the British rock musician Billy Idol (58) look extremely similar with dyed hedgehog heads.

Both are on flashy looks. While Billy but rather bears the rivets on the jacket, Bill is stapled three times in the face: tongue, nose, eyebrow.

Nevertheless, Billy Idol attracts more success and has been successful for three decades. Retrieved from “Tokio Hotel” is heard you can not see anything in almost three years.

Only new looks …

BUNTE #12/2014 [Germany]

"In BUNTE's Radar"

Name: Tokio Hotel
Occupation: Successful german band
Status: Their new album continues in the wait, but at least the Magdeburg posts were now on a Twitter photo in which they - finally! - can be seen, however, it is not in the studio or on the stage, but at least you can see at this lunch in Los Angeles, that the musicians have grown up and become bearded. And the new album? No matter, true fans it's enough to see them while they're eating pizza.

mtv.com: Things are getting interesting in #MMM's second round ... vote now!

MTV's Musical March Madness tournament is screaming toward the end of its second round — polls close Monday, March 31 at noon ET — and as we gear up for the Sweet 16, some bands seem like sure things ... while others are just barely hanging on.

Of course, nothing's written in stone just yet, and there's still plenty of time to change things; if your favorite band is behind, hit the polls — or, if they're ahead, vote like crazy to keep them there. And as we prepare to cut the field of 32 in half, we're taking a look at the matchups in each region: yesterday, we tackled the Midwest and West ... and today, we're breaking down the East and South, where the matchups are fierce, and the action is furious.

East Region

Let's just get this out of the way: Yes, Tokio Hotel is winning. By a lot. The unstoppable #MMM juggernauts (and occasional band) are rolling #14 Bayside, and, barring a collapse of epic proportions, they'll move on to the Sweet 16, where a matchup with #7 Tegan and Sara seems likely. After all, the Quin sisters are up big on #15 Phantogram, and look like locks to move on to the next round ... where they'll subsequently get destroyed by TH's Aliens. Good times!

Things are decidedly more interesting in the East's other matchups ... particularly the down-to-the-wire battle brewing between #16 Palaye Royale (the first unsigned band to ever make the tournament) and #9 Coldplay. The up-and-coming fashion rockers jumped out to a huge lead on Chris Martin and Co., but as the week wore on, Coldplay have closed the gap — and stirred up the kind of cheating!!! accusations usually reserved for Tokio Hotel fans. Right now, it's Palaye Royal with the slight lead; can they hold it through the weekend?

If they do, they'll take on #4 Bastille in the Sweet 16, as the "Pompeii" rockers are blasting #5 Arctic Monkeys in the Battle of Britain. No drama, just a rather convincing display of power from the Bastille boys, who may be the only remaining band in the region who could challenge Tokio Hotel.

mtv.com: MTV's Musical March Madness Moves To Round Two: Vote Now!

Did your favorite artist survive in #MMM? Voting is open in all second-round matchups.

Round two of MTV's Musical March Madness tips off Monday (March 24), and after one week, the 2014 tournament is already proving to be one for the ages.

We started with 64 bands, and now the field has been whittled down to 32 ... as the quest for total supremacy — and one very toned trophy — continues. Voting in all second-round matchups is now underway, and polls will remain open until Monday, March 31 at noon ET.

Vote Now In All #MMM Second-Round Matchups!

Much like the actual NCAA tournament (farewell, Duke), #MMM has already seen plenty of upsets, as two #1 seeds were sent packing, and no shortage of nail-biting, down-to-the-wire battles ... and if we've learned anything from the first round, it's that every vote counts; so, if you want your favorites to survive to the Sweet 16, well, hit the polls early and often!

But before you do, let's recap the week that was ... and look ahead at the second-round matchups in #MMM 2014!

[...]
East Region

Imagine Dragons weren't the only #1 to go down in round one, as the East's top seed, Vampire Weekend, were also given the boot, this time at the well-manicured hands of #16 Palaye Royale. As #MMM's only unsigned band, PR entered the 2014 tourney untested, but after round one, they look poised to make a deep run in the field ... though it won't get any easier, as they take on #9 Coldplay — who held off #8 the 1975 in a tight opening-round contest — for a birth in the Sweet 16.

In the other top-half matchup, it's #5 Arctic Monkeys vs. #4 Bastille ... and though AM breezed through their first-round contest, Bastille were taken down to the wire by upset-minded underdogs #13 Electric Century, who came up just short in their tournament debut. Still, with on a single to their name, EC look like they could become tournament staples for years to come.

Things were equally tight in the East's bottom half, as #15 Phantogram shocked #2 Lorde in a close contest, and #7 Tegan and Sara survived a serious scare from #10 Bring Me The Horizon. #14 Bayside upset #3 Arcade Fire, and now have the honor of getting obliterated by Tokio Hotel in the second round, as the unstoppable German band rolled over #6 Korn by historic margins, and certainly seem to be the team to beat in this year's tournament.

The second-round matchups in the East are:

» #16 Palaye Royale vs. #9 Coldplay
» #5 Arctic Monkeys vs. #4 Bastille
» #15 Phantogram vs. #7 Tegan and Sara
» #11 Tokio Hotel vs. # 14 Bayside

[...]

So who will survive to the Sweet 16? That's up to you! Second-round voting is now underway in #MMM, and if your favorites are still alive, you can guide them to the 2014 title ... or, if your band lost, what better way to get some revenge than voting in round two?!? Polls will remain open until Monday, March 31 at noon ET.

Gala #12/2014 [Germany]

"Tokio Hotel: From Boys to Men"

Would you have recognized the men immediately? Bill Kaulitz, Georg Listing, Gustav Schäfer and Bill's twin brother, Tom Kaulitz have become polynuclear guys, fooling around with pizza for lunch in Los Angeles. It is the first joint photo of the quartet for three years.

Reason for the meeting: This year, a new Tokio Hotel album will be released. Let's see if this sounds as good as the guys look now.

mtv.com: MTV's Musical March Madness: Can The 1975 Stop Tokio Hotel From Taking The East?

We break down all the #MMM first-round matchups, and today, it's the Epic East region!

MTV's fifth-annual Musical March Madness tipped off on Monday (March 17), with 64 bands beginning a mythic quest for total tournament supremacy ... and one very toned trophy.

Who will take home the title? Ultimately, it'll be up to you: Vote now for your favorites in all first-round matchups at MMM.MTV.com, and make sure to check back on Monday, March 24 at noon E.T. when the tournament moves on to round two.

Of course, this year's #MMM is already proving to be an unpredictable affair; after all, we let fans pick all the bands in the field of 64, which has infused the tournament with some much-needed new blood (and, of course, Tokio Hotel, who brought a dog to this year's bracket.) So to help you make sense of all the craziness, we're breaking down the action, region by region.

We've already taken a look at the bands battling it out in the Midwest and West, and today, we're turning our attention to the East, home of plenty of indie rock acts, blog bands and, yes, Tokio Hotel, who, if history is any indicator, are probably going to win it all. But as a matter of mere formality, let's dive deeper into all the matchups in the East!

The #1 seed in the East went to Vampire Weekend, #MMM vets who claimed their second chart-topping album last year (and displayed an alarming amount of Steve Buscemi knowledge in the process). They're pitted against #16 Palaye Royale, who you probably have never heard of ... because they're the first unsigned band to every make the tournament.

And while they're newcomers to #MMM, Palaye Royale aren't shying away from the spotlight; in fact, they're blasting VW in their first-round matchup, and right now, look like locks to advance to round two, where they'd take on either #8 the 1975 or #9 Coldplay, two British bands currently locked in a back-and-forth battle that's too close to call.

The rest of the East's top half features matchups between #5 Arctic Monkeys and #12 the Vamps (currently, it's AM in the lead) and #4 Bastille and #13 Electric Century, which seems like it's destined to come down to the wire: Mikey Way's band may be new, but they're giving Bastille everything they can handle in the first round ... make sure you keep your eyes on this one.

The East's #2 seed is Lorde, and though she had no problem dominating the chats in 2013, she's having plenty of difficulty getting past #15 Phantogram in round one; the winner will get either #7 Tegan and Sara or #10 Bring Me The Horizon in round two, and though BMTH entered the tournament as many folks' sleeper pick, they're currently trailing the Quinn sisters by a sizeable amount.

Meanwhile, #3 Arcade Fire look to hold serve against #14 Bayside, though the winner of this is largely arbitrary; they'll draw #11 Tokio Hotel (currently eviscerating #6 Korn) in round two, and likely lose by double digits. Can anyone stop the Germans from their march to the title? Probably not; and we'd like to apologize in advance for that fact.

Of course, as history has shown, there are no sure things in #MMM, and there's plenty of time for the totals to change. If your favorite band is up big, you've got to keep them in the lead ... or, if they're losing, well, you've got your work cut out for you. Voting in the first-round continues until Monday, March 24 at noon E.T. ... so hit the polls! Championship dreams hang in the balance!

mtv.com: MTV's Musical March Madness: Tokio Hotel Want To Be Top Dogs Once Again.

They're out to take back the #MMM title in 2014, with some help from their pal Pumba.

In the five-year history of MTV's Musical March Madness tournament, no band has dominated quite like Tokio Hotel, the German rockers who have ridden the support of their fanatical "Aliens" to a trio of Final Four appearances and the 2012 championship.

It's a pretty impressive résumé, especially considering TH hasn't released an album since 2009, though, in a move that has come to live in MMM infamy, they aimed to change that last year, declaring they'd put out their long-in-the-works new album if they repeated as champs.

Of course, as any Alien will tell you, things didn't really work out that way, as TH were bounced from the tournament by eventual champion Ed Sheeran, in a tightly-contested battle that may very well go down as the greatest matchup in MMM history.

And don't think Tokio Hotel haven't spent the past year stewing over that defeat ... because in a brand-new MMM video sent exclusively to MTV News, they let it be known that they plan on winning it all once again. And this time, they're not just relying on their fans to carry them to victory; no, they've got Power Ranger Power, too. Oh, and one very fierce puppy named Pumba.

"We want to win again ... and Pumba the Ranger wants to win too. If we don't he's going to be really upset and he's probably going to bite you all," frontman Bill Kaulitz said. "This year's going to be so exciting for us, we're releasing our new album, and we want to win this award too, because it will make the year even better."

Of course, with Sheeran retiring from the 2014 tournament, Tokio Hotel's path to the championship appears to be an easy one (though we wouldn't count Fall Out Boy or Imagine Dragons just yet). In fact, TH's toughest challenge might just be qualifying for the tournament.

But that's where you come in.

Because this year, for the first time, we're letting fans pick all the bands for MMM 2014: You can tweet your picks @MTVNews using the hashtag #MMM.

We'll be watching all week, and then, on Monday, March 17, we'll unveil the full bracket of 64 bands at MMM.mtv.com.

So, if you want to see Tokio Hotel reclaim the crown, you better nominate them! Oh, and it probably wouldn't hurt to rally the troops, either; make sure to spread the word on Facebook and Twitter, and check back in on Monday, March 17, when MMM 2014 officially tips off!

*Bias: prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.

mtv.com: MTV's Musical March Madness: Imagine Dragons Want Redemption ... And Help From Tokio Hotel!

The five-year history of MTV's Musical March Madness tournament has seen no shortage of Cinderella stories — Disturbed's deep run in the 2011 tourney, F--ked Up's shocking string of upsets in 2012, Walk The Moon's sprint to the Final Four last year — but Imagine Dragons' 2013 appearance was not one of them.

"I feel like we got voted out pretty early last time. We got smoked by, like, Tokyo Police Club. Who was it? Tokio Hotel. That's who it was," Dragons' frontman Dan Reynolds told MTV News. "Don't they win every year or something? Their fans are the real deal."

Actually, Imagine Dragons lost to Modest Mouse ... but that didn't guitarist Wayne Sermon from calling out perennial MMM powerhouses Tokio Hotel — "We're coming after you!" he snarled — a move which would almost certainly incur the wrath of TH's super-serious "Aliens" fanbase; which is why Reynolds was quick to interrupt him. After all, the Dragons would like to actually win this thing.

"Don't do that! We respect you [Tokio Hotel fans], we respect everything you're about," he said. "But, if you wanna be fans of two bands, we'll accept you. There's room."

"We would like to encourage everybody from Tokio Hotel to please vote for us in Musical March Madness," bassist Ben McKee deadpanned.

Promipool.de: First picture together: Tokio Hotel is now reunited after 3 years…

What a new for all the Tokio Hotel fans! The german band posted a picture on Twitter on which the 4 members of Tokio Hotel were sitting around a table. Are they working on a new album? We’re telling you more about it.
Tokio Hotel share a meal

There’s not much left from these old teenagers, because the twins Tom and Bill Kaulitz (24) changed a lot the past 3 years, as their partners Gustav Schaefer (25) and Georg Listing (26).
From teenage-stars to young reckless adults.

The members of Tokio Hotel grew up. We can see it only by looking at this picture: the twins, especially Tom, now wear the beard. Georg now has short hair on the side and Gustav is wearing real geek glasses.
New album in 2014

For the ones hoping for a new album from the guys can be very very happy: Tokio Hotel is actually working on a new album which might be released this year. It seems like everything is going well as we can see their relaxed faces while they’re having dinner.

ok-magazin.de: Tokio Hotel - The guys changed so much. They posted a picture of them all during lunch.

Bill cut his hair and so did Georg, who's also wearing a shorter haircut.

These past years, it was calm around Bill and Tom Kaulitz (24), Gustav Schaefer (25) and Georg Listing (26). Beside the physical changes of Bill, we didn't really have news from the band. At the end of January appeared a nice & happy new for their fans out there: Tokio Hotel is back with a new album! And now, they're posting a picture while having lunch in LA.

Bill Kaulitz - from a teenage star to jury in DSDS

Great. Tokio Hotel changed. During the last four years, the guys grew up. There's no traces left from the beginning of their career.

Clic, clac, hair is being cut...!

Now, Bill wears his hair shorter as well as Georg who also cut his beautiful & healthy hair which made all the women jealous. Tom doesn't wear Dreadlocks anymore and he now has a beard! And even if Gustav still looks the same, he matured too.

The fans agree. They're happy to see the band back together and enjoy their new style: "It was doing such a long time since the last picture, it feels really amazing to see you back together", or "what a change.. well I mean, I remember when Tokio Hotel were still kids, but look at them now!", write their fans.

A new musical path?

We're excited about the new songs in addition with the new visual looks & musical sounds. We can suppose their music also changed and is more matured.
