It’s official: Tokio Hotel have the biggest fan base in the world.
The band — who hasn’t released an album since 2009 or toured since 2011 — took out the EMA for Biggest Fans on the red carpet, beating out favourites Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and One Direction for the title.
Dizzee Rascal announced the award on the pre-show red carpet, playing on the emotions of enthusiastic Beliebers by announcing that Justin was the winner.
“And the winner is… Justin Bieber. Just kidding, it’s Tokio Hotel,” the ‘Bonkers’ singer joked.
The group remained in top spot since voting opened last month, tweeting a whole lotta love to their loyal fans.
“We want to say a massive thank you to all our fans,” the group commented on the win, despite not being able to make the event.
Tokio Hotel’s new album will drop at the end of November.
